Inside the project

In this document, I will explain the process of creating the character Zuko and his NPR shader in Arnold Maya. Remember that this process was the result of years of personal experimentation. Speaking specifically of Zuko, his look development is a hybrid between the careful management of my painting maps and a shader that helps me maintain and bake information with dynamic lights. One of the main goals of this project was to achieve a result directly from the shader, rather than relying on layers and layers of composition. Although I have seen wonders done in Blender, there are very few in Maya/Arnold. Therefore, my mission was to be able to translate this 3D environment with hand painting from Maya. You will understand how it works in the following document. Feel free to download and take a look inside the project, the decisions I made, and how this influenced the NPR Shader.
